Born in Paris in 1969 into an acting family, Julie Delpy never had any doubts as to her eventual profession. Her film debut came when she was just fifteen, in Jean-Luc Godard's Détective. Other roles with Europe's finest directors followed. In 1986, she appeared (with Juliette Binoche) in the Léos Carax film Mauvais Sang, and in 1990 in Agnieska Holland's internationally acclaimed Europa Europa. The next year, she starred opposite Sam Shepard in Voyager. The late Krzysztof Kieslowski so adored her that he put her in each installment of his Three Colors series: with Juliette Binoche in Blue, with Irene Jacob in Red, and in the leading role in White.
